♥ MAC Haul #4 | Retro Matte Liquid Lipsticks

When I caught wind of MAC releasing liquid lipsticks I was so excited. They were something I really wanted to get my hands on and after looking forward to it for so long, I'm so happy they're finally here. It wasn't without a struggle, though!

I've ordered online with MAC more than I've shopped in store. Their counters can get really busy and crowed and I find the whole experience really over whelming, so I stick to buying online. It usually takes around three days to order and receive products and I've always been happy enough with their service. This time, however, I've been severely let down. My items weren't dispatched for days and when I contacted MAC asking to change the delivery address (going to university three hundred miles from home is not ideal) they couldn't help me. Their reason? Fraud. I couldn't believe it. I've used two addresses in the past and the products hadn't been prepared yet, so a refusal to change address baffled me. I've never had issues like this with any other brand before, so I feel massively let down. and annoyed They weren't dispatched when I got told they were going to - and they took around 5 days to arrive, after dispatch, which isn't what the turnaround is usually. Basically, the customer service was awful, I had to pay for my Mum to post them to me when they finally arrived, and I'm really wary of ordering again.

Now onto their brand new Retro Matte Liquid Lipsticks. They retail at £21, which seemed appropriate, but after a little research and discovering they cost only $20 stateside, it becomes apparent that we're being well and truly ripped off. The mark up of their usual lipsticks is only around £3.50 more than they'd cost you in America, but in the UK we're being charged a massive £7 more than we would for the Retro Matte Liquid Lipsticks than we would be in the US.

The shades I bought were Back In Vogue (now out of stock, sorry!) and High Drama. Back in Vogue is described as a 'peachy nude' and has a golden shimmer to it. It applies beautifully and in one coat it's opaque. It stayed in place all night for me, and didn't transfer at all. High Drama is so highly pigmented and lasts a really long time, with no transferring but it did take an extra coat to make it look nice and opaque and even on the lips. These lipsticks are not as drying as the other liquid lipsticks I've tried and they are so comfortable on the lips. They don't crack or flake away, they don't look bad on drier lips (like mine) and I couldn't get them off after wearing them, it took a good oil based makeup remover and a light scrub.

With this little haul, I also picked up the lip liner in Dervish. I wanted something a little pinker and this is a beautiful natural looking pink toned liner. It's just pinker than Soar, and I'm obsessed with this. MAC also popped in a sample mascara, which is good, the formula is a little clumpy but I'm sure I'll love it after a few wears.

So, there you have my latest MAC haul, featuring the new liquid lipsticks. If you can get your hands on them I'd definitely recommend them! Let me know if you managed to pick any of the shades up, or which shades you'd pick if you had to get one in the comments down below. Thanks for reading and I'll speak to you soon!

  2. It's so annoying! I know they're an american company and what not, but the mark up of everything else they do is only a few pounds, so a seven pound mark up is insane!

  3. :O WHAT! I never realized MAC do liquid lipsticks! I've had bad experiences with their online delivery too before when they've sent me wrong items!
But nevermind, those two shades look amazing! <3
