♥ Am I a bad Blogger?

I've been writing this blog for a few years now... It started as a way to occupy my mind on the days where university just wasn't very busy and I found myself with nothing to do. As I study Creative Writing, it seemed like it was a worthwhile thing to spend my time doing and I have truly loved growing this little blog... I don't have thousands of readers, or even a few hundred, but my follower count or statistics have never ever put me off posting. I post because I actually love what I'm telling you girls about and I want to share my opinion. I've never blogged for any other reason than truly loving it, but there are still a few things I feel I do wrong in this blogging community. These are the few reasons why I sometimes feel like a bad blogger:

  1. I tend to be very, very inconsistent. Life just gets in the way, you know? As a third year student, I have a lot of work on and I spend the holidays working full time to ensure I have enough money to get me through each term. Blogging has to sit on the back burner if I get too busy with deadlines and my job. I am trying to change that, and having a post schedule and writing up the weeks blog posts helps to avoid a lack of posts.
  2. Lack of equipment. Everybody says that you can't have it all when you're just starting out. Not everyone owns a fancy camera - or knows how to use one - and all the little techy bits and pieces that go with them. I bought a 'real' camera last summer, before a holiday, but I'm not very clued up on how to get the best out of it, but I am slowly learning. I think good quality photos can make all the difference - as it shows a bit of creativity and it's nice to have a clear image of what you're reading about. I started out with just my phone and I didn't buy my camera (a Samsung NX3000) specifically for blog photos, but it's something I'm so glad I have now.
  3. I'm not an MUA. I absolutely love the idea of youtube and sharing makeup tutorials and all that, but I'm not qualified and I'm not very good at it. I love make up and I have far too much of it, but I am an amateur and I'm not very talented at all and it's only in the past two years I've started to wear anything but foundation, mascara and eyeliner! That being said, it is one of my options to go and train as a MUA after university, if I save the money up for a course!
  4. I don't have a disposable income. While I am able to buy myself expensive makeup now and again, I put that down to not being a drinker. If my friends go out clubbing week in, week out, I see my absence as an excuse to spend the £30 on a new eyeshadow palette. I live away from home and have to pay my rent and bills and as I don't have a job and an income all year round I'm not able to constantly try and buy new products. I know that's not what it's all about, but sometimes when I have nothing new to write about, I struggle to find anything to write about (absurd, I know).

I know it's silly to think I'm a 'bad blogger', but it's so easy to feel like this when the world of beauty blogging is so saturated. There are thousands of blogs online - everyone's writing one - and it can be hard to stand out and these are a few of the little things that make me feel like I'm at a disadvantage sometimes. I must say, it's never stopped me from posting  because I really love updating my blog and it's a positive way to keep myself entertained and keep myself writing and I mainly blog because I've always wanted to write for a women's publication, something I feel blogging is quite close to. As ever, I'd love for you to leave your opinions down below - let me know what sometimes gets you stuck in a blogging rut and leave any advice down below! Thanks for reading, I really appreciate it.

  1. I feel the same! I'm also third year, and currently avoiding writing the introduction for my dissertation and instead I'm reading beauty blogs - obviously a good use of my time haha! I agree that photos can make all the difference, at uni I only use my iPhone for photos as I leave my DSLR at home as it's too precious and I don't want to risk it being broken/damaged haha but it annoys me when I know my photos could be better but they're not!
