♥ Budget Brushes Review | Morphe & Bdellium Tools

Back at the beginning of the month, I posted a huge Beauty Bay haul that featured some really great budget brushes. I've been putting them to the test for a few weeks now and I thought it was about time I share my thoughts on them!

First up, the Morphe M504 brush. This is a rather large blending brush and though I don't always go for a super dark smokey eye, when I do want to add a hint of black shadow this is the brush I'll use. It's super fluffy and deposits just enough pigment onto my eyes and it blends darker eye shadows in the outer v of the eye an absolute dream! The only annoying thing about using it for this purpose is that the hairs are dark and I can never actually tell how much product I've got on them - but it's not hindered my use of this brush at all. I've also used this brush to highlight my cheekbones and nose, as it can pinpoint exactly where I want to highlight and it's phenomenal at that!

The Bdellium Tools 772 brush I picked up is a small shader brush made out of natural and synthetic bristles and I wanted this as a mini little shader brush for applying pigments and shadows onto the eyelid. I've been buying more and more foiled type shadows and glitter pigments to really enhance my makeup and this brush is brilliant with all of these types of products. I've used it both dry and with Fix+ and I find it's so good at creating a nice opaque finish on the lid. It's great with fine glitters, and I'm definitely going to be buying more from this line in the future.

Finally, I picked up another Morphe brush, this time, the M431 which is a tiny little pencil brush. This is so so good at getting right under my lower lashes and it gives a nice even application. It's super soft and doesn't scratch my eye area, which I was a little worried about for something with such a teeny price tag, and it's even great for highlighting the inner corner and brow bone too! It's such a nice, neat little brush and it's perfect for doing fancy little tricks and really detailed work on the eye area.

Affordable brushes are everywhere now, and when there are brushes like this available at such a good price what's the need for splashing out on one mac brush that costs four times as much as one of these brushes? Don't get me wrong - I love more expensive brushes, too, but these are undeniably good and  the cheap price tag means nobody has to go without an awesome brush collection. Let me know what brushes you're obsessed with at the minute, as I'm always on the look out for more.

Em x

  1. the 504 sounds amazing! I recently picked up a few eyeshadow ones from Morphe to encourage me to use eye shadow more and it's fair to say I need these two in my collection!
