♥ May Favourites

May was the craziest month for me. On Monday the 16th, I handed in my dissertation - signalling the end of my degree and my three years in Falmouth. Because of that, it was a pretty hectic month, but since handing in my final piece of work, it's meant the only stresses I've had concerned my job, my finances and moving back home. Now that I have loads more free time, I'm enjoying trying out new things makeup wise and spoiling myself a little. I put some great new products to the test this month and fell back in love with an old favourite from last summer!

On Wednesday, I'll be posting an in depth review of the specific Mario Badescu Skincare bit's I've been trying out, but I just had to mention them in my favourites, too. These awesome little sample sizes have been saving my skin recently, and they've really encouraged me to look after my skin. Acne is still a massive problem for me, but this brand is really making me want to splash out and try and solve my skincare woes once and for all. Last week, I posted this day time look with Urban Decay's Smoky Palette. I've been forcing myself to use this as it was getting very neglected, but I'm so glad I've picked this back up. The palette holds some great neutral mattes and is actually much more wearable than you may think it is, and as it's Urban Decay, the formula and staying power of these shadows is great. Peel off masks sound like absolute perfection to me - so when I managed to get ahold of the Quick Fix Facials Brightening Peel Mask I was really excited. It stings my eyes a touch when I first apply, but there is nothing more satisfying than peeling this away when it's dried down. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and it's tempted me to try others, that will be more successful in drying out my spots and pulling out the crap that fills my huge pores. At the beginning of the month, I picked up a really cheap new fragrance. I am definitely not one to spend silly amounts of money on perfume - I grew up (and I'm about to move back to) a household of three smokers. Everything smells of smoke and nothing prevents my clothes or hair from smelling of it, too. I'd douse myself in perfume and body spray when I was younger, but it doesn't take the stench away and nothing will - not even a good old spritz of Chanel No5... Because of this, I don't see the benefit of a really nice perfume and I stick to ones I find on the highstreet, on sale. This Vera Wang Lovestruck cost me only £18 in a sale in Superdrug, and it's nice and floral, sweet and girly. I love it. I've also been loving my Real Techniques Duo Fibre Face Brush. I'm sure I have mentioned this before, but I picked this up in a set a year or so ago and I've always used it for powder. It doesn't pick up too much product and it still leaves my face looking nice and natural but recently, I've been using this to bronze my face. It's not very dense so it doesn't make me look dirty or muddy and it's perfect for gently adding colour and dimension. I really want to try some more duo fibre brushes now, though. Finally, I've been loving Cheryl Strayed's memoir, Wild. Last year Reese Witherspoon starred in the film adaptation and every since then I've wanted to read it. Now that I've finished my degree I have plenty of time for reading again and this book isn't going to last much longer. I'd love to travel - but I'm far too sensible and more determined to move out of my family home than I am anything else, so this book is letting me live vicariously through this book. It's made me laugh and made my cry and if you're into travelling or seeing more of the world - or you're just a woman who needs some guidance - read this book! It's a beautiful account of Strayed's time on the Pacific Crest Trail and it's nothing short of powerful and moving.

Sorry for the quality of the photo on this one, I had to use my phone as my camera is at a friends house! I hope you've all had a brilliant month and bank holiday Monday and are really excited for summer to be in full swing... I know I am!

Em x
