♥ Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water | Original vs Oil-Infused

When micellar waters gained huge popularity a few years ago, I never thought they would be such a staple in my evening routine. Now, I get through the stuff like crazy. I wear much more makeup now than I ever really have before and removing my makeup before cleansing is something I try to do to ensure I'm as gentle as can be around my eyes and lips. To remove makeup, I love using cotton rounds and a water based makeup remover and when I spotted the new Garner Oil Infused Micellar water I knew I had to compare it with the original.

First of all, the scent of the new oil-infused micellar water is pretty strong compared to the original which has no perfume in it at all. It's off putting and really obvious the second you open it, so if your sensitive skin doesn't react well to strong scents, I'd steer clear. The overall consistency is the samosa the original, despite the new version having oil mixed into it. I always give it a good shake before using it so the product mixes together as supposed to and the oil does change the colour of the cotton pad - it's not clear and colourless like it's older sister, it turns a cloudy beige colour when you've shaken the product up and put it on a pad. The oil-infused alternative rightly boasts a 'non greasy' formula advertised on the bottle and for someone who can be quite oily, using extra oil in my routine hasn't made a bad difference in my skin whatsoever, which is great, it just hydrates my under eye area and for that reason alone I'll purchase again! The new oil-infused micellar water is supposed to remove even waterproof make-up, but as I steer clear of all types of waterproof mascara and eyeliner to make taking it off a whole lot easier I can't comment on that, but I imagine the oil breaks down waterproof mascara with ease, compared to the original. It does, however, remove liquid lipstick like an absolute dream. I drench a cotton pad, and place it firmly on my lips and leave it for around ten seconds before swiping away my lipstick in circular motions. It's great for this and doesn't tug or irritate delicate skin. When it comes to performing any better as a whole, compared to the original Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, I don't think the two vary much at all. You definitely don't need both. I tested these side by side on a normal day - no liquid lipstick involved - I used a cotton pad with each product on either side of my face, starting by resting on my eyes and wiping away all product, and they both removed my makeup in exactly the same manner. Neither side was any easier or harder to clean.... This disappointed me quite a bit, because it seems to me that they're an identical product, aside from the obvious oil-infused properties of the newbie. But for those of you who swear by waterproof mascara, this will be your new best friend.

  1. I haven't tried the oil infused one, but the original is amazing! It removes makeup so easily, even eye makeup without having to rub my eyes. Great product and I will definitely purchase again! :)

  2. I haven't tried either of these, but I use waterproof make-up occasionally so if I tried it I would go for the oil-infused version!
